What Color is a Dinosaur?

An Anchiornis father feeds its young a dragonfly breakfast. The tree-cavity nest, while speculative, is based on the typical habits of modern woodpeckers, with which Anchiornis shares a strikingly similar color scheme. Composite gouache & digital.

Created originally to accompany a poem by Jonathan Kane in an illustrated anthology of poetry about paleontology, the painting, its poem, and a bit of background has just been kindly featured by the lovely PalaeoPoems website. With this poem and its painting a sample, we are now in the process of looking for potential agents and publishers for our anthology! If you are one or know one who might be interested, please get in touch.
